A+B The Whole Square: More Than A Formula

(a + b)² = a² + 2ab + b²

Did You Just Memorize It… Or Understand It?

Let me ask you something.

How did you learn one of the most basic algebraic formulas—
(a + b)² = a² + 2ab + b²?

Did you memorize it…
Or did someone actually take the time to explain how it comes together?

For many of us, it was memorization. We repeated it until it stayed in our minds. But we rarely paused to ask deeper questions—What is it? Why does it work? Where does it come from?

I was no different.

Years later, when I revisited this simple formula, I began to see something more than mathematics.

Yes, there is —what “a” becomes on its own.
Yes, there is —what “b” becomes on its own.

But right in the middle… is 2ab.

That part is different.

It represents interaction.
Connection.
Synergy.

It exists only because a and b come together.

And that made me think…

In life, we often focus on individual growth—our skills, our identity, our achievements. And those things matter.

But much of the real impact in life doesn’t come from what we do alone.

It comes from what happens between us.

In our everyday lives.
In our families.
In our businesses.
In our interactions within society.

That “2ab” is where ideas meet.
Where trust is built.
Where something new is created—something neither could achieve alone.

That is where life expands.

Today, I’m sharing a short newsletter article I wrote on this idea—More Than a Formula.

If this perspective resonates with you, take a few moments to read it.

And if it makes sense to you…
Share it with someone you care about.

Because sometimes, the most familiar things…
still have something new to teach us.

Thank you
